PARTNERSHIP: MASCOT DESIGN CONTEST
THE FIRST CONTEST DEDICATED TO RESEARCHOF THE OFFICIAL MASCOT LEONE1947
In 2016 the LABoxe research and development laboratory contacted some professionals from the graphic design, illustration and art direction sectors. The goal: to design and build the official mascot team of the Leone1947 brand, intended for graphic application on future lines of combat products dedicated to children.
Two projects arrive in the final:
- the team of lions-fighters presented by the graphic designer and illustrator Davide Coco, who with the support of LABoxe will create the Leone Toon's Team and the dedicated glove and shorts in 2017
- the iconic lions of the art director Andrea Fiorito, used in 2019 for the construction of two kits: the colorful Mascot Junior intended for baby-fighters and the more aggressive Mascot, consisting of gloves and shorts for boys
LEONE TOON'S TEAM
Inspired by the "teams" of heroes of the 90s, from the Ninja Turtles to the Street Sharks through the Bikers Mices, the illustrator Davide Coco gives life to this special team of lions, each of whom is destined for a different combat discipline: boxing, kick-boxing, muay thai, mma. Each character embodies some of the fundamental values for the practice of their discipline; values explained to the little ones through the beautiful comic boards that accompanied the presentation of the members of the Leone Toon's Team.
CURIOSITY
The names chosen for these heroic lions pay homage to four legends of the different disciplines: Sugar Ray Leonard inspires the lion-boxer "Leonard" (in the center); Kathy Long is the lioness "Kathy" (right), a kick boxer who also has the burden of representing all female fighters; the legend of the European muay-thai Ramon Dekkers gives its name to "Ramon" (left); finally the MMA fighter Randy Couture (middle, top) is simply "Randy".
LEONARD: THE BOXER WHO DREAMS OF THE WORLD BELT
Each team has its own leader, and boxer Leonard has the best role. Solitary and dedicated to hard sacrifice when it comes to training, sociable, friendly and always ready when the weakest sparring partner is to help. Best equipped, with the Revolution boxing gloves and the historic Italy boxing shorts.

Willing to give up a few hours of shopping if her kick-boxing teacher is waiting for her, Kathy perfectly embodies the spirit of many female fighters inside but above all outside the ring. Maori gloves are her favorites: they make her feminine but at the same time a great warrior.

In constant search for the balance between body and spirit, Ramon is dedicated to his discipline and to the land that raised him and forged his responsibility. When not immersed in his training, he devotes his time to teaching muay thai to tomorrow's little fighters. You will hardly meet him training or fighting without the Bangkok and mongkon shorts handmade in Thailand.

In the "land of smile" muay thai is considered a real religion, a very ancient discipline that has been learned since childhood ... every gesture is sacred and is aimed at the well-being of the body and spirit to generate harmony with the world ... a natural balance that does not need glory or money but that comes from RESPONSIBILITY and DEDICATION!

THE LOGO
For the occasion, LABoxe has developed a new "cartoon" variant of the LEONE logo, thus adapting it to the language closest to the baby audience of the new Leone Toon's Team products.
THE 6 OUNCES BOXING GLOVE: LEONARD
Equipped with PU padding with reinforcement between the back and the sleeve, it is a very safe product designed to ensure correct protection of the hand and wrist. The breathable mesh placed on the palm ensures healthy perspiration that maintains the right temperature of the hand, avoiding excessive sweating and condensation that could generate bad smells and bacteria concentrations after prolonged use. The glove is characterized by colorful, friendly and captivating graphics that improves the learning of movements and the memorization of automatisms in children.
THE KICK / THAI JUNIOR SHORTS: RAMON
The new line also includes the Thai Junior shorts suitable for those who practice kick boxing and muay thai and which features Ramon, the expert team member in the Thai discipline par excellence. The shorts are made of 100% satin, with the embroidered logo and are available in two colors.
THE MASCOT COLLECTION
Colorful and scratchy are the lions created by Andrea Fiorito, which gave inspiration to the creation of two product lines: the Mascot Junior collection, with equipment and clothing dedicated to the under 12s, and the Mascot collection, consisting of gloves and shorts for adults and boys. Behind these products, the interesting graphic and chromatic study applied to the designs of the four mascots.
BOXING
Four disciplines. Four mascots. Starting from the lion representing boxing. Boxing gloves and high head for the lion enriched by warm tones as regards the color choice, from yellow to light brown.
KICK BOXING
A "high kick" characterizes the lioness icon of kick boxing. Horizontal development and colors that go from soft pink to the brightest fuchsia, highlighting the duality between female sensitivity and her innate warrior spirit.
MUAY THAY
Fire red like passion. Like the flames that often decorate and characterize the products intended for this discipline. Red like the mascot representing muay thai, in the typical knee-high guard in action!
MMA
Among the contact sports, undoubtedly one of the most dynamic and aggressive: we speak of the "mixed martial arts". The lion designed for this discipline fully embodies the spirit of this discipline: cold shades of blue, disruptive physique and scratching claws that emerge from the "open finger" gloves typically used in the cage.
MASCOT JUNIOR
After a few years of study and some reinterpretations of the color and the disciplines to which they were intended, the iconic mascots find application in two collections. The Mascot Junior includes three models of mittens available in 4 and 6 ounces, and the children's suits made up of technical polyester t-shirts and satin kick / thai shorts, both with sublimated prints.
MASCOT
In the psychedelic fluorescent version the Mascot collection for adults and children. The PU gloves, with extra pre-molded padding on the sleeve to ensure the best protection of the wrist of young fighters and novice amateurs, are available in 8 and 10 ounce versions. The kit is completed by sublimated satin shorts, suitable for both kick boxing and muay thai practice.
